This is a rare opportunity to acquire possibly the nicest original 280SL that we have seen for a while.
The vehicle was supplied to its first owner Mr Kenneth George Barker a Director of City Ceramics in Chichester on the 9th August 1984. Mr Barker purchased the vehicle from the company in November 1993 and passed the vehicle onto its second owner Mrs Bernadette Carole Whorton Bredon on the 30th September 1994. Mrs Bredon retained ownership of the vehicle for 17 years before passing onto current ownership on the 19th April 2011.
The vehicle is a credit to its previous owners as the condition is as near factory perfect as one could wish for. The paintwork is totally original finished in Classic White. It is accident free and totally unblemished. The same follows through to the interior finished in a contrasting light grey check cloth, factory fitted carpets and over mats in as new condition. The end result being a light and airy cockpit to pilot this beautiful Mercedes.
As one would expect all controls work as intended the day it left the factory, the original Blaupunkt Melbourne MR23 radio/cassette retained with operating electric aerial. The Mercedes retains its supplied first aid kit, warning triangle and full tool kit in as new condition.
The service history being exemplary, 17 stamps within the service book, the last entry being in March 2017 where an oil service and MOT were carried out at a recorded mileage of 55,424. Service history is documented by a host of receipts/invoices/MOT certificates with no advisory at the last MOT. Service history details the vehicle had a new bulkhead and Mohair roof fitted in February 2012.
This is truly an exceptional example of this very popular R107 representing engineering and build quality when Mercedes were at the pinnacle of engineering excellence.
