An opportunity to purchase probably the best 222E available anywhere. This was my own vehicle and decided to restore to the highest standard possible, a no expense spared restoration.
The external body was completely stripped of it’s panels, doors, bonnet and boot lid. New factory panels purchased from Maserati. The body was treated to a total makeover ensuring no rust/corrosion existed anywhere before the new panels where assembled. Once installed great care being taken to ensure all gaping was correct, (better than when they left the factory). The Maserati was repainted in correct factory colour by an ex employee of Aston Martin. New correct alloy wheels purchased and fitted with correct Michelin tyres. The vehicle was then sent to Maranello in Lyndhurst where engine, gearbox, clutch etc where re-built, overhauled to an exacting standard. A custom stainless steel exhaust with four branch pipes completed the restoration of the mechanics.
The interior is totally original, unblemished. The leather/suede/Alcantara and briar wood provide a wonderful place to be.
Everything works as it should, all electrics operating faultlessly. Climate air-conditioning, sound system, electric aerial, turbo boost gauge even the famous gold-plated LaSalle timepiece.
This vehicle is a joy to drive and turns heads wherever it goes, one for the collector as they are now becoming extremely rare. You can read all about this Maserati in the 23rd October edition of Classic Car Weekly
