1969 Morris Minor 2d De-Luxe

An enthusiasts dream project

£3,250

Here at Country Classic Cars few automobiles fill us with enthusiasm as the evergreen Morris Minor. There is a reason why a war time design was still selling two decades later, by then the 1098cc engine was installed and over 1 million ‘Moggies’ had been purchased across the planet and the ‘worlds biggest small car’ sold itself according to the ad men at BMC. The Minor 2 door de-luxe we are pleased to offer on consignment was one of the last, registered August 69 by which time the Convertible option was no longer being built and the saloon would stop the following year.

Finished in original Smoke Grey a more honest project you will struggle to find, it is certainly one we would like to take on ourselves but our workshops are already booked up months ahead. So, it’s a great opportunity for an enthusiast who enjoys time in the garage to grab a little gem. We assess every classic that we are requested to sell and this Minor surprised especially when the ramp inspection revealed a weld free floor and chassis, original factory paint is retained on the underside, confirming documentation with the car stating that this Minor known as ‘Jenny’ has only travelled 47054 miles from new.

One document explains in August 2007 ‘Jenny’ had enjoyed three owners and covered 45,500 miles, the two previous both lived in the same Lane in Reigate, Surrey. It continues ‘Both owners were fastidious, the car was lovingly cared for, never driven in the rain, to the extent the first owner took it to Bournemouth for a holiday and the hotel arranged for a lock up garage whilst they were there. They postponed their departure for an extra two nights due to rain. It has never been welded garaged all its life and totally original inside and out. Upgrades at the time included brake servo, inertia seatbelts and unleaded conversion. A stainless-steel exhaust and new starter motor were fitted in 2006’.

The history file is fascinating … original service book shows Oxford Service Station, Kingswood, Surrey supplied the car after carrying out the PDI at 85 miles 25th July 1969 and sold to E A Hobden of Mint Lane.

1st service 23/10/69 @ 473 miles

2nd service 26/7/72 @ 2931 miles

3rd service 2/6/73 @ 5931 miles

4th service 8/8/74 @ 8998 miles

5th service 19/8/76 @ 12042

At this point it seems the car was stored before the same dealer continued the maintenance, stamping the book at …

6th service 17/3/91 @ 15474

7th service 22/4/94 @ 17907

8th service 5/01/95 @ 21000

9th service 8/04/97 @ 24097

We have MOT history through to 2021 and this confirms this Minor has travelled just 500 miles in the past 5 years and 8k miles over the past 2 decades.

At Country Classic Cars we find it’s best to present a ‘warts and all’ detailed write up of any classic we are requested to sell. This helps to avoid ‘buyer’s remorse’ especially for those purchasing from abroad or interested parties travelling distances to view. As this Minor is being offered under the label ‘project’ we have put together a list of items any new owner will need consider to make her roadworthy again. The engine does run happily but the radiator is leaking and we noted the thermostat slow to open. Also the front O/s top arm bush, starter motor, heater hoses, battery need replacing tyres are aged, track rod dust cover, replacement fuel line and full service recommended. The exterior is remarkably straight with little evidence of panel repair, light surface rust spots can be found across the front bumper painted area and grille. Chrome is great and can certainly enjoy many more years with just a little polish whilst the interior screams original. Those chasing show standard may look to replace carpets with seat covers offering the potential for a few more years following a good clean. We are not expecting ‘Jenny’ to be with us for long, a superb opportunity for any Morris enthusiast, history file with invoices and drivers handbook etc will be included and we can arrange transportation, that would be an additional cost.

For additional information please message with your email address for detailed images or a short walk-round video; we will forward the file via ‘We Transfer’ a free to use and safe service or Whats Ap if you supply your mobile phone number. Country Classic Cars operate by appointment only as our cars are often kept in secure storage although currently, we are happy to offer unhindered viewings.
